Twins!

When we left South Africa in November we were expecting to return well before the February due date of Battie and Sylvie's little one. Surprise! In January, Sylvie finally got an appointment for a scan which not only showed two blessings but that they would need to be delivered early by the doctor.

 Raphael and Tryner, the Lingala version of Rodney and Trina were born a month early but are strong and health. Perfect is loving being a big brother but thinks two babies are a little loud for him.

We enjoy loving on and spoiling all our African kids. They are truly blessings.

Groutville Orphans

 We had the opportunity this month to spend an afternoon with a group of 145 orphans at a Groutville primary school.

Each of these children are aids orphans who either head a household or live with various families in the community. It was such a pleasure to take part in blessing these children.

The Grouville Fire Department turned up to demonstrate their skills to these young orphans. Not only will these kids know what to do when disaster strikes, but they will be able to dream dreams of becoming firemen and women when they grow up.

  This is a government school which provides meals each day but many of these children are not able to pay school fees so they are not allowed to take part in the meals. The Courier, a local news paper was on hand to take pictures and do a little write up on the event.  Hopefully this will raise the public’s awareness to these little children’s plight.

Farewell to Nika

Nika was our three year old rust colored Rhodesian ridge back. She was a great companion and amazing protector and is greatly missed.

Christmas in Texas and Alaska

We were very blessed to spend Christmas in Texas this past December. Our son Anthony and his wife Nattasha  flew down from Quantico, Virginia to be with us. Our daughter Kayleigh, her husband  Logan and their girls did not get to leave Alaska but we were able to Skype with them and watch the Christmas gifts being opened. The girls are growing so fast.

We had a great holiday visiting with Rodney's family, my family and many friends. It was a blessing to be with the crew at Ron and Cynthia Wilken's house for the day of prayer and the wonderful people of  Acton Baptist gave us a warm welcome every chance we got to be with them.

January is almost half over now and Rodney and I are in South East Texas visiting with the churches and friends we know here. Bridget is spending some well deserved rest time in DFW with Rodney's mom and family and my mom and sister. I will send a full report when we get back home to all our friends we miss in South Africa the first week of February.

November 2010 IRC Ministry update

December 2, 2010

We are just over half way through our time in Brazil and it has been fantastic.

Revelation 3:8 says,

8 "...I have put before you an open door which no one can shut..."

Our primary "door" in Brazil is Ari Cavalcanti. Through our relationship with him, we have worked with many different parts of the Body of Christ in the cities of Sao Paulo, Curitiba and San Francisco Du Sul. The bulk of our time has been spent in Curitiba working with many pastors and their fellowships. These groups are very diverse with pastors from mainline denominations like Methodist, Baptist, and non-denominational works as well. We are currently laying the ground work for a city wide leadership training time next year.

Please continue to pray for us as we finish our time in Brazil. We will have a short time with our family in December and then visit a number of churches in the USA during January.
